Jakarta, MobilePhone-Us.com – With increased mobility, people are encouraged to have a smartphone that has a large battery capacity. Seeing this gap, Tecno offers a solution through its latest smartphone, the Tecno Pova 3.
It’s true, the echo of this smartphone brand is inferior to Samsung, Xiaomi, realme, OPPO, vivo, or even Infinix though. This is fairly reasonable, considering that Tecno only visited Indonesia during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Although it has not even been two years operating in the country, it does not mean that the Tecno Pova 3 has entered the domestic smartphone market without proper preparation. The reason is, this latest cellphone comes with a number of features that are expected to attract Indonesian consumers, especially for those who have high mobility in their daily lives.
The good news is that MobilePhone-Us.com was given the opportunity to prove the performance of Tecno Pova 3.
When you first open the Tecno Pova 3 packaging box, your eyes immediately fall on the smartphone unit that looks big. The reason is, the dimensions of the Tecno Pova 3 measure 173.1 mm x 78.46 mm x 9.44 mm with a weight of 230 grams, quite heavy. Therefore, it is recommended to use two hands to operate this smartphone, especially for the Eve whose palms are smaller than the Adam’s.
Regarding the appearance, of course, it can’t be separated from the Tecno Pova 3 design. At first glance, the back of this device is almost like a gaming smartphone, reminiscent of the HP gaming brand from Taiwan.
With the Tech Silver color, the center of the Tecno Pova 3 case is crossed by a vertical line that is slightly protruding, meaning that it is not flush with the surface of the case made of polycarbonate material. In the middle of the line, there is the words “Panther Engine” as a marker of the technology used by this smartphone.
Unfortunately, even though the line gives a futuristic impression, the concept is like a boomerang because the vertical line is prone to being contaminated by user fingerprints. It’s true, users can still outsmart it by adding a softcase that is in the Tecno Pova 3 packaging box. However, if this is done, the aesthetic value of the device will certainly decrease.
Then in the upper left corner there are three camera sensors arranged vertically, side by side with an LED flash. In the lower left corner, there is the inscription “Tecno Pova” which has a holographic effect, so it will display various colors, depending on the point of view of the eye.
Then on the right side of the device, there is a volume adjustment button. Just below it, there is a power button which also functions as a fingerprint scanner sensor. Shifted on the left side, there is a dual SIM card slot and a MicroSD. At the top of the device, there is only the speaker out. Then on the lower side, then it looks ‘crowded’ because it is filled by a type C charging hole, 3.5 mm audio jack, and speaker hole.
Behind its large and easily dirty body, the futuristic concept of the Tecno Pova 3 design deserves thumbs up because it offers a different concept.
Well, this is one of the attractions of Tecno Pova 3, namely the screen. With an area of 6.9 inches, this smartphone screen presents a very wide image field, perhaps the widest screen for the smartphone category sold in the Indonesian market today.
However, instead of providing a wide field of view, the Tecno Pova 3 screen actually uses the old IPS panel. Even so, the resolution has reached Full HD + (1,080 x 2,460 pixels) with a color density level of 389 ppi (pixels per inch). For mobile game users, this smartphone is quite easy because it already has a refresh rate of 90 Hz.
Even so, users need to be more careful with the Tecno Pova 3 screen because it is only protected with a sheet of scratch-resistant plastic. Just a suggestion, you should prepare an additional pocket to add to the screen protection with a better screen protector.
Still about the screen, this Chinese smartphone manufacturer embeds a punch-hole which is placed in the middle above the screen to accommodate the front camera. An advancement compared to smartphones in its class, which mostly still use a ‘bang’ or notch. However, the bezels at the four corners tend to be thick, especially on the bezel on the bottom side of the screen.
Talking about performance, of course, it can’t be separated from the chipset it carries. For your information, the Tecno Pova 3 specification is powered by the MediaTek Helio G88 SoC which carries eight cores (Octa-Core) with 12 nm fabrication. The chipset contains the ARM Cortex-A75 and Cortex-A55 which are driven up to a speed of 2.0 GHz. Then the graphics card itself uses the Mali-G52 MC2 GPU.
Not only the CPU and GPU, the chipset also offers 6 GB of RAM with 128 GB of internal memory which can still be expanded using a MicroSD. The good news is that the Tecno Pova 3 feature has a RAM expansion of up to 5 GB. That is, the maximum RAM capacity of this device reaches 11 GB by ‘borrowing’ space from the internal memory.
Of course, the support for the RAM expansion feature makes the system more capable of running applications, including several popular games, such as PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and Genshin Impact.
As for software, Tecno Pova 3 runs the Android 12 operating system with the latest interface from Tecno, namely HiOS 8.6.0. No less interesting, the NFC feature is also embedded in this device.
As for the technicalities, MobilePhone-Us.com uses the Geekbench 5 application to test this device. The Tecno Pova 3 benchmark score is 366 for single core and 1,306 for multi-core, a pretty big value for a Rp 2 million HP.
In accordance with the jargon “Rhinoceros Battery, Fierce Performance” which is the tagline of Tecno Pova 3, this smartphone excels in terms of durability.
Understandably, the battery capacity of the Tecno Pova 3 reaches 7,000 mAh which places it as the smartphone with the largest battery in the Rp 2 million price range.
Not only with a jumbo battery, Tecno also provides this flagship device with a 25 Watt fast charging feature. Interestingly, in the Tecno Pova 3 sales package, a 33 Watt charger head is also provided. That way, the Tecno Pova 3 battery charging process from 0% – 100% only takes about 50 minutes.
With a 7,000 mAh battery, the durability of the Tecno Pova 3 is anti-slack when driven to play YouTube videos, play music, play games, and other multimedia activities.
If detailed, this smartphone can play YouTube for 20 hours, 50 hours listening to music, and 8 hours playing games (battery from 100% to 0%).
Equipped with a 25W charging feature and a 33W charging head, this smartphone battery can be fully charged to 100% in about 50 minutes.
Even though they seem shy, Tecno seems to be following the current smartphone trend. For example, in the Tecno Pova 3 camera sector, the main ‘shooter’ has a resolution of 50 MP.
In addition to the main sensor, there are two other cameras on the back of the device. One camera functions as a bokeh lens aka a 2 MP depth sensor. While the remaining one lens is an AI camera. To add lighting, an LED flash is also installed.
Several camera features are also loaded on this smartphone, ranging from Short Video, AI CAM, Portrait and Super Night. Then, there is also support for Beauty, AR Shot, Ultra HD, Slow Motion, to Pro mode.
Then on the front, there is an 8 MP selfie camera, complete with dual LED flash and various shooting modes.
With the price of the Tecno Pova 3 which was priced at Rp. 2,399 million at its launch, users can already get a powerful device equipped with a large screen and jumbo battery. The minus, this smartphone is quite heavy with a rear casing that gets dirty easily.
Long story short, this Tecno Pova 3 review ends with a simple sentence: This smartphone has a large body and a battery that doesn’t slack.
